Use this week's Word of the Week, SHARE, to extend your learning:
1. Say and trace each letter of this week's word.
2. Sound out the word letter–by-letter.
3. Think of other words that rhyme with share. These can be real words
or made-up ones that are silly and non-sensical!
CRAFT
Make a Bowl of Thick Red Stew!
Directions:
Each child will receive:
Black Stew Bowl
Red "Stew"
Collage materials for stew ingredients
1. Use glue stick to glue the red "stew" area to the black bowl.
2. Glue different ingredients (collage materials) onto the red stew.
3. Have children discuss what ingredients they added to their stew.
LITERACY TIP
Oral language is a key component of early literacy. Asking children to explain what ingredients (collage materials) they added to their stew, and why they added them is a great way to model how to support answers with reasoning. Later you can move onto other open-ended questions to keep the conversation flowing. Provide sentence frames for ELL students to help formulate answers.
