LITERACY TIP
Hearing rhymes and patterns in sounds helps to trigger speech. Scientific evidence shows that early learning of rhymes significantly enhances phonological awareness which helps develop early reading skills. By reciting rhymes and reading books with rhymes with children you help them build a strong foundation for learning how to read.
Some other fun rhyming books you can share with your class include:
Llama Llama Red Pajama by Anna Dewdney
Goodnight, Goodnight Construction Site by Sherri Duskey Rinker
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin Jr and John Archambault
