BOOK:
RABBIT MAGIC
Children will delight in this book that shows the importance of teamwork, along with the fun of magic. When a magic trick goes awry, the magician M. Lapin becomes a sad rabbit while his rabbit assistant, Houdini, becomes the star of the show. After trying increasingly spectacular tricks, Houdini realizes that someone else wants and deserves the spotlight, and in his most amazing trick ever, he restores M. Lapin to his former self.
RHYME: MY THUMBS ARE STARTING TO WIGGLE
My thumbs are starting to wiggle
My thumbs are starting to wiggle
My thumbs are starting to wiggle
And now so are my hands
(Repeat with hands, toes feet and body)
RABBIT MAGIC WORD OF THE WEEK
Use this week's Word of the Week, MAGIC, to extend your learning:
1. Say and trace each letter of this week's word.
2. Sound out a word letter–by-letter.
3. Think of other words that rhyme with magic. These can be real words
or made-up ones that are silly and non-sensical!

CRAFT
Children will create their own spider!
Directions:
Each child will receive:
1 Stars with Popsicle Stick
1 Paper Star
2 Ribbons
Small Stars for Decoration
1. Decorate your two large paper stars with crayons and small stars.
2. Place glue all over back of star with popsicle stick.
3. Place ribbons at the bottom of the star on either side of the popsicle stick.
4. Place other star - with decorated side facing out - on the star with the glue
and enjoy your wand while saying abracadabra!
LITERACY TIP
Today we used stars to make our abracadabra wand. See if you can find other stars in
your classroom. Ask children to identify other shapes they see and talk about them
with the class. Circles and triangles are often parts of letters. Being able to see shapes
will help children later recognize letters. Knowing the letters and their names is
one of the skills children need to learn to read.
